1. Force-quit a frozen application
Press and hold the Home button for 6 seconds and the app will quit.
2. Make calls from directly from Safari
If you look up a phone number for something in Safari, tap the number and the iPhone will dial it.
3. Double-down with scrolling.
Some Web pages contain separate text boxes with their own scroll bars. If you're trying to move around in one Zoom in, and then scroll with two fingers. This will let you scroll inside the text box and not the position of the entire page.
4. Maximize battery life
Situated right above the earpiece is the sensor that detects ambient light. The iPhone uses this sensor just as you unlock it. If you cover the sensor as you unlock the phone, you will trick the handset into thinking it's in a dark location and it will reduce the screen brightness.

The iPhone's e-mail synchronisation abilities drain the battery more quickly. In Settings under Fetch New Data, set e-mail fetch time to Hourly, and turn Push off.
6. Take a screenshot
Hold down the Home button and press the Sleep/Wake button. The iPhone will place the screenshot in the Photo application.
7. Bigger keyboard in Safari
Rotate the phone horizontally and tap the address bar and the wider keyboard appears.
8. Get Safari's address bar back
Tap the top part of the screen and the address bar will reappear.
9. Enter punctuation quickly
To enter a period while using the on-screen keyboard, hold down the Punctuation key and slide your finger over to the Period button. Then release it.
10. Get more than dot-com
The iPhone's Safari app gives you a .com button. If you hold down the .com button; you get a list of alternate domain endings, such as .net, .edu, and .org.
